OH, TANNENBAUM
Gather friends and family at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, December 2 and check out the lighting of our Christmas tree on the RMCC campus. The ceremony will feature the MHS choir and hot beverages will be served.
Driving directions: Turn on old Highway 71 in front of Mena Ford. It runs along the east edge of the college property and winds up on US 71 near Hillcrest.
Many thanks to Susie Mosley and her crew of elves who designed and installed the tree.
SERVICES OF PRAYER AND
HEALING
Each Wednesday during Advent we will hold special public services at 6 PM. The services are meant for those present seeking healing and those not present for whom they wish to pray. The dates are Wednesday, December 3, 10 and 17. Please come and join your prayers in spiritual union with all who are seeking God’s healing grace.
POUND THE PRIESTS?
No clubs, please, but your special gifts for them in appreciation of their devoted ministry to our congregation. We’ll pound Father Jim on Sunday, December 21 and Father Doug on January 4.
HANGING OF THE GREENS
In preparation for our special Christmas Eve service, we will be decorating the church at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 23. Help is needed; please come if you are able.
CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
Fr. Jim will celebrate Holy Eucharist at 7 PM on Christmas Eve. Our traditional service will be enhanced this year with the addition of lighted candles. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Gather your family and friends and come for a truly lovely and moving Christmas Eve.
FROM THE GUILD
All ladies in the church are invited to our ECW Christmas party, on Monday, December 22, at 5:30 pm at the home of Linda Johnson. Please bring finger foods. Drinks will be provided.
Our annual Bazaar was indeed a success, thanks to everyone’s help! Net total
- almost $1800. This enabled the ECW to give an additional $150 to the already budgeted $250 for the Optimist Christmas Food Baskets.
It’s time to put our plan in motion for our annual Swaddling Clothes Project on behalf of the Rosebud Mission on the Lakota Sioux Reservation in SD. Children’s mittens, gloves, and knit caps will decorate our Advent tree in the parish hall. In addition, infant and toddler clothing and baby blankets are desperately needed. These items will be shipped after the New Year.
The Mission has sent a special request this year on behalf of The Tree of Life United Methodist Ministries which is planning a party on December 19th for at risk children. They are struggling to gather enough toys for the children. Please bring a toy for a child to the church by Monday, December 8 to allow shipment to SD.
POINSETTIA FUND
Contributions are being accepted for the beautification of the altar and sanctuary on Christmas Eve. Contributions may be dedicated as you wish. Forms for contributions are on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Please complete the form and place it in the collection plate or give it to Sue Wigger before December 20.
MANY THANKS
