SHEEEEES BACK….
The Calendar Elf has returned from her summer hiatus. See other side.
- A motor caravan will leave from the church at 6 AM, Saturday, October 11 for those who wish to attend the Open Door Sunday program at St. Mark’s, Little Rock. We will return that evening. You should have received a letter and program from Bishop Benfield with particulars. If you are interested in attending and/or driving, please let Sharon know by Sunday, October 5. Registration is required.
- On Sunday, October 12 we will throw open the red doors and welcome one and all to our services. Invite someone to attend with you and help them through the liturgy if they are unfamiliar with our church. WHAT SHALL I RETURN?
The Vestry has designated Sunday, November 2 as Stewardship Sunday. You will receive a letter, church budget to date and a pledge card in early October. Please prayerfully consider your pledge of time, talent and treasure for the work of Christ Church in the coming year.
KEENY BEANY, HALLOWEINY
Brew up a pot of chili and join the fun on at 5 PM, Friday, October 31 for our annual Chili and Hot Dog Blast. The church will provide the hot dogs and all the trimmings. While you’re at it, drag out that old costume and dress for the occasion. Double-dog dare ‘ya!
FROM THE GUILD
- Our annual Bazaar has been scheduled for Nov 7-8th. We will advertise a Silent Auction, Crafts, Specialty Food Items, and a Resale Boutique. Members of the congregation are encouraged to start bringing suitable items (NO clothing) to the parish hall for the Resale Boutique. There are also some projects (sewing, embroidery, and other) on a table in the parish hall. Please look over these and take home anything you would be willing to complete in the Crafts department for the bazaar. Should you be interested in donating an item for the Silent Auction (check out that fabulous Razorback rocker), please notify Marj or Beckie.
- ECW meeting will be held on Wed, Oct 15, at 5PM in the parish hall. We need all ladies to come join us, as this will be our last meeting before the Bazaar!
- ECW Fall Gathering (Annual Meeting) will be at St. Margaret’s in Little Rock on Friday, Nov 14 and Saturday, Nov 15th. We will be introduced to the House of Prayer, an outdoor haven dedicated to contemplative prayer on the wooded acreage at St. Margaret’s. Registration fee is $40.00, which includes Saturday lunch and program presented by the Rev. Susan Sims-Smith. For more detail, read the flier posted on the bulletin board. See Beckie for registration forms.

REASONS WHY I NEVER WASH (I.E.ATTEND CHURCH)
A pastor, disturbed with the excuses parishioners offered as to why they didn’t attend church, included the following in the Sunday bulletin:
- I was forced to as a child.
- People who wash are hypocrites – they think they are cleaner than everybody else.
- I wash only on special occasions, like Christmas and Easter.
- None of my friends wash.
- I bought a bad bar of soap once, so I swore I would never wash again!
- I used to wash, but I got bored and stopped.
