WHAT IS THE CPC?
The Church Periodical Club (CPC) is an Episcopal institution; its ministry is to
supply books, magazines, tapes, videos and computer programs free to those who
cannot otherwise obtain them and to raise the money to do this.
It was founded in 1888 by Mary Ann Drake Fargo, wife of a member of the
Wells-Fargo Express firm. Mary Ann and her friends in the Church of the Holy
Communion, New York, sent their bundles of books and periodicals westward to missionaries and pioneers via stagecoach.
Today this work is still carried out by the CPC which sends these materials world wide to congregations which otherwise cannot afford them.
The Brown Plate offering on Sunday, June 8 will benefit this vital organization. Please be generous.
SAVE THAT STUFF!
Remember when you do your spring cleaning to save stuff for our yard sale, Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28. Even if you don’t do spring cleaning, surely you have stuff which needs to go (musgo) – clothes, toys, books, furniture, whatever – even that ugly thing your Great Aunt Alma gave you as a wedding gift which you have yet to identify or find a use for. Bring it all to the Sunday School room by Tuesday, June 25.
Help is needed for the setup on Wednesday, June 25, and for the sale and the take down. Let Marj Kassien or Beckie Duer know if you are willing and able to help.
THE HOLY ALPHABET
Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of “Camp Complaining“
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To “thank” is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We’ll run the race with gratitude
X alting God most high
Yes, there’ll be good times and some will be bad, but…
Z ion waits in glory…where none are ever sad!
